The movie has quietly become a sleeper hit, winning attention with its twists and dark humor.

It stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie, a young woman trying to fix her life, and she takes a job working for Nina, played by Amanda Seyfried, hoping for a fresh start.

But things quickly go wrong. The house is full of secrets, and the situation becomes dangerous, with Andrew, played by Brandon Sklenar, caught in between.

Based on a novel by Freida McFadden, the story keeps viewers hooked with suspense and surprises.

Capitalizing on this widespread acclaim, a sequel titled The Housemaid’s Secret is already in active development, and also based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling follow-up novel, the sequel has been given a release date of December 17, 2027.

The plot will continue Millie’s journey, depicting her in a new housekeeping role for a woman she is never allowed to meet, leading her to uncover secrets potentially darker than her own.

Lionsgate is set to produce the sequel, aiming for another major box office success by offering a darker, R-rated thriller during the competitive holiday season.

Sydney Sweeney is confirmed to return to her role, with Michele Morrone also reprising his character, Enzo.

Additionally, Kirsten Dunst will join the cast in a new role, and Paul Feig is slated to return as director.
