Still Got That 'Your Love'! The Outfield's Classic Video Hits Billion Views Milestone 40 Years On

The timeless appeal of 1980s music continues to resonate globally, a phenomenon strikingly demonstrated by the recent achievement of The Outfield's iconic track, "Your Love." Forty years after its initial release, the official music video for "Your Love" has officially surpassed the monumental milestone of 1 billion views on YouTube, earning the English rock band their first entry into the platform's exclusive Billion Views Club.

Originally featured as the second single from The Outfield's 1985 debut studio album, "Play Deep," the song quickly climbed the charts. The album itself proved successful, reaching an impressive No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart. "Your Love" solidified its place in music history by peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 1986, and it has consistently remained the band's most recognized and beloved song.

The enduring popularity of "Your Love" received a significant boost in 2024, experiencing a major resurgence thanks to a modern reimagining by the acclaimed producer Diplo. His "Your Love (Remix)" introduced the classic track to a new generation of listeners, achieving chart success as a top 10 hit on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart and peaking at No. 48 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. This revival came a decade after The Outfield formally disbanded following the tragic passing of guitarist and principal songwriter John Spinks in 2014.

While "Your Love" stands as their biggest hit, The Outfield's discography boasts other notable successes on the Billboard charts. Their single "Since You’ve Been Gone," from their second album "Bangin'," reached No. 11 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in 1987. Furthermore, the title track "Voices of Babylon" and "My Paradise," both from their 1989 album "Voices of Babylon," also made their mark on the same chart, peaking at No. 2 and No. 34, respectively.

The band's journey began in London in 1984, founded by John Spinks, alongside vocalist and bassist Tony Lewis, and drummer Alan Jackman. Throughout their career, The Outfield released a total of seven studio albums, spanning from 1985 to 2011. The band's activities ceased in 2014 following Spinks' death from liver cancer, and tragically, Tony Lewis also passed away in 2020, marking the end of an era for the beloved rock group.
