Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South, has formally announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and his subsequent defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This significant political development was revealed in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday in Abuja, where Senator Katung provided insights into the reasons behind his decision.

The Senator clarified that his choice to leave the PDP was a result of "deep consideration and wide consultations" conducted with various political stakeholders, his loyal supporters, and the constituents within his Kaduna South senatorial district. He emphasized that this decision, though carefully weighed, was not undertaken lightly. Senator Katung reflected on his consistent commitment over the years to the principles of democracy, good governance, and public service, ideals he acknowledged the PDP had long represented.
