Shocking Confession: Mounjaro Mum Admits Forgetting to Feed Kids Due to Appetite Suppressant

A recent TikTok post by a mother on the GLP-1 weight-loss drug Mounjaro ignited a fierce online debate after she candidly admitted to sometimes 'forgetting to feed' her children. The revelation, made over a picture of her with her two kids with the added text: 'Thanks. Sometimes I forget to feed them because I'm on Mounjaro', left many social media users stunned and divided.
Mounjaro, an injected weekly GLP-1 medication, primarily functions by suppressing appetite to aid in weight loss. The mother, who has reportedly lost a significant amount of weight, accompanied her confession with the caption: 'Not easy remembering these little people are hungry,' prompting a wave of reactions across the platform.
The comments section quickly became a battleground of opinions. Some users were quick to condemn the mother, expressing disbelief and concern. One commenter wrote, 'I can forget a lot but definitely not feeding them,' while another shared, 'My son's nana is the same, I now pack him packed lunch when he goes.' These critical remarks highlighted the perceived seriousness of the issue and the fundamental responsibility of parents to ensure their children are fed.
However, a surprisingly large number of people came to the mother's defense, finding her experience 'relatable.' Many shared their own struggles with appetite suppression while on Mounjaro or similar drugs, admitting to similar forgetfulness regarding meal times for their dependents, including children and even pets. Comments like, 'I can relate. I don’t feel hungry at all! So meal times are all over the place, I forget they feel hungry!' and 'Saaaammee got a little alarm on my phone now,' illustrated a shared experience. Several users mentioned implementing practical solutions, such as setting reminder alarms, to ensure they fulfill their caregiving duties.
The discussion also touched upon potential unintended benefits, with one commenter suggesting that perhaps this might 'help adjust children’s way of thinking about food too, in this case, as I suspect you were possibly over feeding them too. Maybe it will have (unintended) but good generational benefits?' The mother herself later hinted that her original post was intended to be light-hearted, responding to a user who told her it was 'not that deep.' The incident underscores the complex and sometimes unexpected side effects of powerful medications like Mounjaro, as well as the varying perspectives on parenting and personal responsibility in the age of social media.
