Shocking Attack Rocks SDP Headquarters, Probe Demanded!

Shehu Musa Gabam, the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has strongly advocated for a thorough investigation into the recent attempted violent attack on the party's National Secretariat located in Abuja. Gabam emphasized the critical need for security agencies to not only identify and prosecute individuals directly involved in the incident but also to uncover and bring to justice any sponsors or financiers who may have orchestrated the attack.

This call for action comes amidst a backdrop of a prolonged leadership dispute within the SDP. The party's internal challenges saw a significant development in late April when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) updated its official website, recognizing Gabam as the legitimate National Chairman, a status confirmed "by court order."

In a statement issued by Lawal Ibrahim, Gabam's special adviser on media, the attempted invasion of the secretariat by suspected hoodlums and criminal elements was unequivocally condemned. Ibrahim characterized the incident as a grave threat to public order, the safety and well-being of party members, and the integrity of democratic processes. The statement further alleged that the attackers were acting in the interest of certain individuals who sought to unlawfully impose themselves as the party’s presidential candidate. The primary objective of this attempted assault, as highlighted, was to disrupt crucial activities at the secretariat before security operatives could effectively intervene.
