Shocking Allegations: Former Child Star Sues Disney Over Alleged Abuse
Former child star Raquel Lee has sued Disney, alleging negligence and sexual assault by an ex-employee during the filming of “The Poof Point” when she was 14. The lawsuit details claims of grooming, harassment, and assault, with Disney allegedly failing to intervene and later criticizing Lee.
Raquel Lee, a former child star known for her roles in “The Amanda Show” and “The Proud Family,” has filed a lawsuit against Disney, alleging severe misconduct during the production of the 2001 movie “The Poof Point.” The lawsuit, filed on a Friday, accuses Disney of negligence and claims that a “middle-aged, male employee who was involved in the filming of the movie” groomed, sexually harassed, and assaulted her when she was 14 years old.
According to the allegations, the employee provided Lee with alcohol and assaulted her while the film’s cast was accommodated in Salt Lake City, and also during a flight returning to California. The legal filing further contends that Disney and the film’s director, Neal Israel, explicitly instructed Lee to “bond with, get close to, and trust” the alleged abuser. The lawsuit explicitly states that “Disney authorized sexual harassment on set, permitting sexualized jokes, commentary, fondling, and excessive touching,” and that the employee “regularly made sexually explicit jokes and commentary on the set of a children’s movie and around children,” without any intervention from Disney staff to curb this inappropriate behavior.
Disney has declined to comment on the ongoing legal matter. The lawsuit outlines the significant toll the alleged abuse and alcohol consumption took on Lee, claiming she was often “exhausted, often intoxicated, hungover, or vomiting on set” and that Disney failed to provide her with necessary medical care. Instead, it is alleged that “multiple Disney executives” criticized Lee, accusing her of “being ‘out of control,’” “causing the movie to go ‘haywire,’” “‘need[ing] Jesus,’” and “having ‘a demon inside her.’” Furthermore, Lee claims Disney canceled her participation in a subsequent production after “The Poof Point.”
In recent years, Raquel Lee reprised her role in “Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,” a Disney Channel revival that aired from 2022 to 2026. She also gained attention for her participation in the documentary “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” where she shared her experiences as a Black actor on “The Amanda Show,” shedding light on the darker aspects of child stardom.
