Shocking Abduction: Gunmen Kidnap Ondo Monarch, Shoot Wife in Brutal Attack
Growing tension grips Ode Oriya Village in Ondo State following the abduction of its monarch, Mr. Adeniyi Adelana, by suspected gunmen. The attack, which left the monarch's wife injured, has prompted a swift response from the Ondo State Police Command, initiating a full-scale search-and-rescue operation to locate the missing traditional ruler.Tension is mounting in Ode Oriya Village, located in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, following the recent abduction of the community's monarch, Mr. Adeniyi Adelana, by a group of suspected gunmen. The incident, which has plunged residents into a state of panic, occurred during a late-night assault on the traditional ruler's residence on Friday, June 13, at approximately 8:05 p.m.
Eyewitness accounts describe a coordinated attack by about six armed assailants who invaded the community under the cloak of darkness. They forcefully seized the monarch and whisked him away through a nearby bush path, leaving chaos in their wake. During the attack, the monarch's wife also sustained a gunshot injury to her right hand, further escalating the fear among the villagers.
Confirming the grave incident, Jimoh Abayomi, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, provided an an update on the situation. He stated that the monarch’s wife was promptly rescued and transported to a nearby medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment and showing positive signs of recovery. Abayomi further detailed that operatives from the Ondo State Police Command, led by the Divisional Police Officer of B Division, Owo, swiftly mobilized to the scene after receiving a distress call.
A comprehensive search-and-rescue operation has since been initiated. Police operatives are meticulously combing surrounding forests, bush paths, and all suspected escape routes in an intensified effort to locate and safely bring back the abducted community leader.
