Rod Stewart's Farewell Tour Halted by Heart Procedure: 'Deeply Disappointed' Legend Says

Legendary singer Rod Stewart, at 81 years old, has announced the cancellation of his upcoming North American 'One Last Time' farewell tour dates. This decision follows a routine coronary stent procedure, which necessitated a period of recuperation.

Initially, Stewart's team cancelled his performance scheduled for August 9th at Ohio’s Riverbend Music Center, citing an "unforeseen but minor medical procedure." Subsequently, all remaining tour dates were called off, impacting engagements at Morton Amphitheater in Kansas City, Missouri (August 15), the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (August 18), as well as shows in Minnesota, Illinois, Colorado, and a series of performances in Mexico from September 9th to 13th.

In a statement provided to Rolling Stone, Stewart's representatives confirmed that the singer was "doing well." They further advised that, on the recommendation of his doctors, he would dedicate the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before he could return to the stage. Stewart himself addressed his fans directly on Instagram on August 11th, reassuring them that he was "already feeling better and very much on the mend." He expressed deep disappointment at having to miss these shows but conveyed his eagerness to return to live performances in the future.

This health event comes amidst Stewart's recent remarks about potentially concluding his extensive touring career. Earlier in the year, he had indicated to TalkSport that after completing a planned U.K. tour in 2027, which includes a performance at The O2, he believed "that’ll probably be it" for him on the road, suggesting a desire to explore new endeavors.

Rod Stewart boasts a remarkable touring career spanning over 60 years, performing both as a highly successful solo artist and as a member of renowned British rock bands such as the Faces and the Jeff Beck Group. His 'One Last Time' trek commenced in 2024 and notably featured a Legends slot on the Pyramid Stage that summer, where he was joined by esteemed musicians Ronnie Wood, Mick Hucknall, and Lulu. Throughout his illustrious career, Stewart has achieved numerous chart-topping hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including four in the 1970s: “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright),” “Maggie May,” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” He also collaborated on the 1994 hit “All for Love” with Sting and Bryan Adams.
