Rapper iHeartMemphis Arrested After SWAT Standoff at Florida Home

Rapper iHeartMemphis, born Richard Maurice Colbert and formerly known as iLoveMemphis, was arrested early Tuesday following a tense overnight standoff with law enforcement in Plantation, Florida. Authorities confirmed he was taken into custody around 3:45 a.m. after barricading himself inside a rented residence.

According to NBC6 South Florida, officers initially attempted to detain Colbert on Monday but later called in a SWAT team when the situation escalated. Jail records show the 32-year-old was booked on charges of written threats to kill and resisting an officer without violence.

Footage obtained by TMZ shows the rapper livestreaming portions of the confrontation on Instagram, where he made erratic statements while inside the home. A Tesla was also seen crashed through the garage door during the incident.

During the livestream, Colbert denied intentions to harm himself or others, despite officers reportedly asking about his mental state. Homeowners Association president Hank VanBaalen described the situation to NBC6 as “some kind of an episode.”

iHeartMemphis rose to fame with his 2015 hit “Hit the Quan,” which peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped secure a record deal later that year. Authorities have not yet released further details about the case.
