The esteemed award, which acknowledges “visionaries whose innovative storytelling styles impact culture and effect social change,” was presented to Questlove, aged 54, by Emmy Award-winning creator and star of Abbott Elementary, Quinta Brunson. Brunson, a previous recipient of the award herself alongside Issa Rae, expressed her honor in presenting the accolade to a fellow “Philly kid.” She underscored Questlove’s profound influence, stating that “By using his platform to advocate for representation, equity, and cultural preservation, Questlove has transcended the role of musician to become a vital cultural archivist.”
