Tinubu Returns From Four-Week European Vacation, Says He Is Healthy and Ready to Work

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after concluding a four-week working vacation in Europe, arriving at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 6:22 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29.

Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30, initially spending about a week in London before proceeding to Paris, France, where he held several engagements during his stay. On arrival, the President told journalists that he was healthy and ready to resume his official responsibilities.

Responding to questions about health concerns that had circulated towards the end of his stay abroad, Tinubu said, “Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong.” He added, “Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain: I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go.”

The remarks were made shortly after he arrived in Lagos, where he was received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other government officials. The Presidency had initially announced a three-week vacation, before extending the stay by a few days. During his time in Paris, Tinubu met French President Emmanuel Macron, businessman Vincent Bolloré, and Femi Otedola, while also witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for a proposed Gateway Deep Seaport and Blue Marine Economic Zone, with the project expected to attract $7 billion in investment.

The Presidency said Tinubu chose to return through Lagos to honour the memory of MKO Abiola and is expected to attend a film premiere commemorating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre on October 1, while also holding strategic meetings with political leaders and associates before returning to Abuja.
