Political Earthquake: PRP Unleashes Donald Duke and 420 Candidates in Primary Win

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has officially announced the approval of its primary election appeal process, thereby confirming its candidate roster for the 2027 general elections. A key outcome of this process is the affirmation of former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke, as the party's presidential candidate. In total, the PRP will field 420 candidates across various positions nationwide, demonstrating a broad participation strategy for the upcoming elections.
The announcement came via a statement issued by Muhammed Ishaq, the party’s National Publicity Secretary. He elaborated that the PRP's National Working Committee (NWC) meticulously reviewed the report submitted by the primaries appeal committee and formally adopted its recommendations. This review process underscored the party's dedication to its internal democratic principles and transparency in candidate selection.
The appeal committee's findings revealed that the majority of primary election results were upheld, ensuring that most candidates are cleared to represent the PRP in the general elections. Furthermore, four additional primary election outcomes were specifically affirmed, strengthening the party's final list of approved candidates. However, the committee also demonstrated its commitment to rectifying irregularities by nullifying the primary election conducted for Tarauni Federal Constituency, citing identified anomalies during the process.
With these approvals, the PRP has solidified its commitment to present a comprehensive slate of candidates for presidential, national, and state-level positions in the 2027 elections. The party emphasized that these decisions reflect its unwavering commitment to internal democracy and transparent selection processes within its ranks. The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of the party's mission: “We remain committed to principles of internal democracy and service and to delivering a credible and transformative leadership for Nigeria.”
