Pink Floyd Marks Iconic 50th Anniversary with Unexpected Inter Milan Retro Collaboration!

Pink Floyd is marking the momentous 50th anniversary of their iconic album, "Wish You Were Here," with a surprisingly innovative sportswear collaboration. The progressive rock legends have joined forces with Italian football club FC Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan) and Sony Music Italy to revive the Pink Floyd Football Club (PFFC), a friendly team originally founded by the band members in the 1970s.

The new PFFC capsule collection pays tribute to this unique piece of band history. Among the exclusive, limited-edition items available is the "anthem jacket," priced at $290.10. This jacket is one of only 400 numbered pieces, comes with exclusive packaging, and will be notably worn by the Nerazzurri team before their match against Cagliari at San Siro on Friday, April 17. Fans also have the opportunity to acquire a bundle featuring an original T-shirt and an exclusive blue vinyl, limited to 1,908 copies, priced at $64.70. The collection further extends to include retro PFFC jerseys, scarves, plectrums, drumsticks, tote bags, and various other merchandise.

The PFFC itself originated in the early 1970s, a squad that played during breaks from the band's demanding touring schedule. It famously included Pink Floyd members David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, and the late Richard Wright, alongside their crew. The aesthetic for the new collection is directly inspired by an iconic PFFC photo taken by Kim Gottlieb-Walker. For instance, the groovy blue-and-white retro jersey proudly displays PFFC lettering at its center, faithfully replicating the shirt from the original photograph. The back of the jersey is emblazoned with a special 50th-anniversary logo for "Wish You Were Here," adapted for the club, while the sleeves feature the Inter logo and Pink Floyd's iconic burning man handshake symbol.

Enthusiasts can find the PFFC merchandise available for purchase at the official Inter online store, as well as at physical Inter Stores in Milano, Castello, and San Siro.

Beyond the merchandise, the "Wish You Were Here" album continues its enduring legacy. It remarkably secured the U.K.'s Christmas No. 1 spot last year, five decades after its initial chart-topping success. A new digital and physical reissue of the 1975 LP has been released, featuring several previously unreleased alternate versions and demos of tracks like "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and the album's title track. This reissue marked Floyd’s second No. 1 album of 2025, following the re-release of "Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII," a live show from 1971, which hit the top spot in May of the same year.

Moreover, "Wish You Were Here" is one of eight specially curated classics from the 1971-79 period that will be featured on "Pink Floyd 8-Tracks," a new compilation album set to be released on June 5. This compilation's tracklist includes other beloved hits such as "Money," "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2," "Time," "Comfortably Numb," and an exclusive full version of "Pigs On The Wing," which was previously only available on the 1977 "Animals" 8-Track cartridge release.

While the music and merchandise continue to thrive, Pink Floyd itself is no longer an active band. David Gilmour notably expressed in a 2015 interview with Classic Rock magazine, "I’m done with it," a year after the release of what became the British band’s final album, "The Endless River."
