PDP Cracks Down: Wike, Fayose, 9 Others Face Expulsion Hammer

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally issued certificates of expulsion to 11 former members, a decision disclosed by the party's new national chairman, Tanimu Turaki, SAN. Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, Turaki elaborated on the developments within the party, confirming that these certificates have been dispatched to the affected individuals via courier service.
The expulsion of these members was a result of a decision made by the National Convention, which serves as the highest decision-making organ of the PDP. Turaki explained that this measure aligns with Nigerian law, which explicitly frowns upon dual membership in political parties. The issuance of these certificates is intended to streamline the process for the expelled members, allowing them to register with other political parties in Nigeria without being accused of belonging to more than one party simultaneously.
Among the prominent figures who have received these certificates are the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike; former Governor Ayo Fayose; former PDP national secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and Umaru Bature. Turaki showcased the party's copies of these certificates to journalists, verifying their official nature and dispatch.
He specifically confirmed the sending of expulsion certificates to His Excellency Nyesom Wike, His Excellency Ayodele Fayose, and Distinguished Senator Samuel Anyanwu. Other individuals who received their certificates via courier include Honourable Umaru Bature, Kamarudeen Ajibade, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Abdurahman Muhammad, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Mr Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah Nnanna, George Turna, and Chief Dan Orbih. Turaki expressed his belief that some of the recipients may have already received their documents, marking a definitive end to their membership with the PDP.
