P-Square Family Drama Explodes: Paul Okoye Breaks Silence on Betrayal After Brother's Birthday Shock
Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has publicly dismissed claims suggesting that a woman is the root cause of the renewed crisis within the prominent Okoye family. Instead, Mr P emphatically asserts that the deep-seated dispute stems from alleged betrayal, theft, and long-standing internal disagreements that have reportedly spanned over two decades, significantly predating any marriages within the family. In a series of posts shared via his X handle, he firmly rejected what he described as attempts to blame women for the family fallout. "Before you drag any woman into this! No woman directed or advised anyone to steal from what I worked for over the years. Stop pushing that narrative to suit your agenda," he wrote, further clarifying that the crisis began long before marriage entered the picture. He added, "None of us were even married 20-something years ago when this whole betrayal and stealing started! I said what I said."
Mr P also addressed the public criticism surrounding his recent decision to stop celebrating his birthday on November 18, a date he has long shared with his twin brother, Paul Okoye. The singer had previously announced he would now mark his birthday on November 30, a move that triggered mixed reactions online. Some critics argued that no family feud should be strong enough to break the inherent bond between twins. Responding to these sentiments, Mr P stated that if family ties truly mattered, they should have been upheld when he was allegedly being wronged. He declared, "We were not 'blood' when they were stealing from me. We were not 'blood' when they were creating false narratives about me. Now that I've uncovered the betrayal that has been going on for over 20 years plus, suddenly we're blood? No... it doesn't work like that. We are still in court!"
He underscored that distancing himself from certain family members had become a necessary step for his peace of mind. Acknowledging the inherent pain and personal loss, he insisted that no one should continually remind him of the betrayal he claims to have suffered from his own blood for over two decades. Mr P went as far as to state that even if his parents were alive and supported such alleged betrayal, he would still choose to step back, cut them off, and protect his peace. He concluded, "Boundaries are necessary. Blood isn't thicker than my peace of mind." These latest comments have reignited public attention on the long-running dispute involving Peter, Paul, and their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
In contrast to Peter's public outcries, Nigerian pop star Paul Okoye, the other half of the P-Square music duo, made a post that appeared to be his first since his twin brother openly distanced himself. Paul seemed largely unruffled by his brother's outburst and the controversial change of birthdate. He took to Instagram to post a picture of himself on a jet, announcing his departure for an Australian tour. His post read: "Off to Australian tour 🇦🇺🇦🇺 Long trip PERTH 👉🏾 April 25th SYDNEY 👉🏾 May 1st MELBOURNE May 2nd See y'all".
The deep-seated dispute between the twin brothers initially began in 2017, stemming from disagreements regarding their older brother Jude Okoye's position as their manager. After a period of public estrangement, the twins briefly reunited in 2021, rekindling hopes among fans for a lasting reconciliation. However, their feud resurfaced in 2024 when Paul accused Peter of involvement in his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), an accusation that significantly exacerbated their already strained relationship and led to further complications.
