Nigeria Plans to Release 744 'Repentant Terrorists' — Opposition Calls It Dangerous

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has blasted President Tinubu's plan to reintegrate hundreds of former Boko Haram fighters into Nigerian communities.
At least 744 individuals have graduated from Operation Safe Corridor — Nigeria's deradicalisation programme and are set for reintegration. Most are from Borno State.
ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi says the government is offering rehabilitation without accountability and that victims are being sidelined.
The military insists this is not an amnesty. Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Oluyede called it "a deliberate strategy to ensure long-term national stability."
Participants go through psychological counselling, vocational training, and civic education before reintegration, according to officials.
The ADC remains unconvinced, asking: who was prosecuted, who was vetted, and what safeguards exist after release?
