Osun Shaken: Singer B-Red Survives Alleged Assassination Attempt, Governor Orders Probe

Singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has reportedly survived an alleged assassination attempt in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. The incident, which the Osun State Government has described as a serious security concern, occurred on Wednesday afternoon, April 29, in the Oke-Fia area, situated near the Government House.

Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, confirmed the incident in an official statement, indicating that hoodlums, suspected to be led by an individual identified as Asiri Eniba, attempted to attack the singer. B-Red, who is the son of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and cousin to renowned singer Davido, recounted the terrifying ordeal.

According to B-Red's account, the incident began as he was returning from Alekuwodo Market, where he had gone to purchase some items. While attempting to leave the area, he noticed a group of commercial motorcyclists, some reportedly wearing "AMBO" branded caps, trying to surround his vehicle at a traffic intersection under the Oke-Fia Bridge. The situation quickly escalated when a white Toyota Venza pulled alongside his car, with occupants shouting, “It is him; It is him.”

As B-Red tried to escape, the Toyota Venza and multiple motorcycles gave chase, repeatedly attempting to block his jeep and force it to stop. The pursuit continued through several streets across Osogbo. In a desperate bid for safety, B-Red drove into the premises of the Osun State Government House at Oke-Fia, where he eventually found refuge. Security personnel stationed at the Government House gate reportedly intervened, dispersing his pursuers.

During the high-speed chase, B-Red claimed he was able to identify one of the occupants of the Toyota Venza as Asiri Eniba, whom he described as a "notorious APC Thug" or "known local political enforcer."

The Osun State Government views this attack on a citizen as a grave threat to the peace of the state. Governor Ademola Adeleke has since directed security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the matter, ensuring that all those involved are identified, arrested, and prosecuted without regard to political affiliation. Commissioner Alimi emphasized that the matter should not be treated lightly and stressed the importance of swift action from law enforcement.
