Osun Violence Claims Two Lives as APC Accuses Adeleke Allies, Governor Denies Involvement

Two members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been killed in separate violent attacks in Osogbo, Osun State, prompting calls for an urgent investigation by security agencies. The APC Governorship Campaign Council identified the deceased as Adelodun Lateef Olalekan, popularly known as "Lexy," and Waheed Adigun, while alleging that at least ten others were injured.

The party also disclosed that a female supporter sustained a gunshot wound during a political meeting and is currently receiving treatment.

The APC accused political thugs allegedly linked to the Osun State Government of carrying out the attacks, naming individuals it claims were involved and calling on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to arrest and prosecute those responsible.

The opposition party further alleged that the assailants specifically targeted APC supporters across Osogbo and urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to prioritise peace as the state's governorship election approaches.

Governor Adeleke has, however, denied any involvement in the violence, describing the incident as a suspected cult-related clash rather than a politically motivated attack. In a statement issued through his spokesperson, the governor condemned the killings and directed security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and restore order.

While both sides continue to trade accusations, authorities have yet to publicly establish responsibility for the attacks, with investigations expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the killings.
