Gunmen Attack Immigration Office in Ogbomoso, Steal Firearm and Equipment in Night Raid

An office of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, came under armed attack on Tuesday night when suspected gunmen reportedly stormed the facility around 10 p.m. The assailants, said to number about five, gained entry by scaling the rear perimeter fence and attacked officers on night duty.

The incident has raised fresh concerns over security vulnerabilities at government installations. During the assault, two immigration officers were overpowered and reportedly beaten with sticks and other weapons before the attackers carted away a G3 rifle with ammunition, a mobile phone, a generator set, and a motorcycle battery.

Preliminary accounts suggest the attackers escaped through the same bush path used to infiltrate the compound. The injured officers received medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the attack and has launched a full investigation, deploying surveillance and tactical units to track the suspects and recover the stolen items. Intelligence operations have also been intensified in surrounding areas, with authorities combing nearby bush paths believed to have been used as escape routes.

Police leadership and immigration authorities say a joint task effort has been activated to strengthen security response and apprehend those responsible.
