The incident occurred in the first quarter when Clippers guard James Harden inadvertently stepped on Braun's right foot, causing him to land awkwardly and injure his left ankle.

Despite the injury, Braun briefly returned to the court in the second quarter. However, it was evident he was hobbled by the injury, and he did not participate in the second half of the game. Subsequent medical tests confirmed that Braun had indeed suffered a sprain to his left ankle.
