Nollywood Star Allwell Ademola Dead at 43, Industry Mourns Her Passing

Nollywood actress, director, and film producer Allwell Ademola has passed away at the age of 43. Her death was reported to have occurred on Saturday, December 27, in Lagos, and was subsequently confirmed by fellow actress Faithia Williams, who shared the news on Instagram. Williams expressed her profound grief, writing, “This hit me so bad, Eniobanke,” and later adding, “Haaaa. This hit me so bad. Eniobanke. Allahu Akbar…. Allwell.”
Ademola was a versatile figure in the Nigerian film industry, known for her work across both Yoruba and English-language Nollywood films as an actress, producer, and director. She featured in numerous productions throughout her career. Notably, she was also the granddaughter of the late Adetokunbo Ademola, a former Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Her passing came just hours after she made what would become her final post on Instagram. While no official statement had been released by her family as of the initial reports, unconfirmed accounts circulating within the film industry suggested she suffered a heart attack at her residence, was rushed to the hospital, and later pronounced dead.
The news has sent shockwaves through the Nollywood community, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes from many of her colleagues. In addition to Faithia Williams, actor Damola Olatunji shared a candlelight photo with the caption, “Life is a mirage.” Popular actress Mide Martins posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, while Bidemi Kosoko reacted emotionally on Instagram, expressing disbelief and refusing to accept the news.
Further tributes flooded social media, highlighting the deep impact Ademola had on her peers. Yemi Solade wrote, “One of the most challenging activities for me is to post the demise of a younger person. You ran your race well, ALLWELL ADEMOLA – a ROYALTY from my city – Abéòkúta. GONE WAY TOO SOON…SLEEP WELL ‘Ẹ̀gbá Princess.'” Bimpe Akintunde also shared her profound sorrow, recalling dancing with Ademola just nights before and expressing the pain of her sudden loss: “ENIOBANKE EGBA MOLUSHABI AGBONGBO AKALA OMO’BA ADEMOLA Rest easy like the princess that you are!!!!!!!!! This one pain me!!!!!!!! Goodnight Allwell.” Other colleagues, including Omowunmi Ajiboye and Jaiyeola Monje, also conveyed their condolences online, underscoring the deep void left by Allwell Ademola’s untimely departure in the Nigerian film community.
