Noah Kahan's 'The Great Divide' Dominates Charts, Sets Historic Decade Milestone!

Noah Kahan's hit single, "The Great Divide," has achieved a significant milestone on Billboard's Adult Alternative Airplay chart, becoming the sole longest-leading No. 1 song of the current decade and in nearly a decade overall. The track has commanded the top spot for an impressive 11 consecutive weeks, commencing its reign on the chart dated February 28 and extending through the tally dated May 9. This remarkable run highlights the song's widespread appeal and consistent radio play across approximately 50 stations that contribute to the format, a chart which has been tracking success since January 1996.

This 11-week dominance by "The Great Divide" puts it in esteemed company, matching the 11-week lead previously held by Portugal. The Man's "Feel It Still" in 2017. Furthermore, it stands as one of only three songs in the 2020s to spend at least 10 weeks atop the Adult Alternative Airplay chart, alongside Mumford & Sons and Hozier’s "Rubber Band Man" (from 2025-26) and Hozier’s "Too Sweet" (from 2024), both of which charted for 10 weeks each. While its achievement is substantial, the all-time leader on this chart remains U2’s iconic "Beautiful Day," which held the No. 1 position for 16 weeks starting in 2000. For Noah Kahan personally, "The Great Divide" has more than doubled his previous longest No. 1 stay on Adult Alternative Airplay, surpassing the five weeks achieved by "Northern Attitude," featuring Hozier, in 2024.

Beyond its success on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart, "The Great Divide" has also made significant waves across other prominent Billboard charts. The song previously notched six weeks at No. 1 on Alternative Airplay, demonstrating its broad appeal within the alternative music landscape. It continues its ascent at pop radio, bulleting at No. 19 on Adult Pop Airplay and rising from No. 26 to No. 25 on the main Pop Airplay chart. The track is further poised for gains on the multimetric Billboard Hot 100, especially with the release of its parent album, also titled "The Great Divide," on April 24. The single itself made an impactful debut on the Hot 100 in February, reaching a high of No. 6, marking it as Kahan’s second and highest-charting top 10 hit. All Billboard charts dated May 9 were set to be updated on Billboard.com on Tuesday, May 5.
