Noah Beck Dishes on 'Sidelined 2' Romance and Teases 'Sidelined 3'

The highly anticipated sequel, 'Sidelined 2: Intercepted', delves deeper into the romance between quarterback Drayton (Noah Beck) and dancer Dallas (Siena Agudong), as they navigate significant challenges that test the longevity of their relationship. Picking up from the Wattpad sensation 'The QB Bad Boy and Me' by Tay Marley, and following the success of the first film which became Tubi’s #1, the sequel explores the pressures and distance separating the couple.
A major plot point involves Drayton's injury, preventing him from playing, coupled with Dallas's self-doubt about her future. These obstacles create tension, forcing them to question their dreams versus their romance, leaving them torn about whether they can truly have it all. The film also features major spoilers, indicating the depth of the challenges faced by the protagonists.
Noah Beck expressed his excitement and the surreal feeling of returning to a character he holds dear. He shared that the decision for a sequel was a surprise, but a dream for any actor. Beck proactively used fan edits and comments from TikTok to refine his portrayal of Drayton in the sequel, incorporating subtle nods to what viewers loved about the character. His athletic background also played a crucial role, as he approached his performance with the critical eye of someone watching game 'tape', identifying areas for improvement.
The filming process included memorable moments, such as a line-dancing scene which Beck enjoyed, despite limited prior experience, noting it was part of his Arizona upbringing. Another highlight was a challenging yet fun car make-out scene, involving intricate choreography to maneuver around Drayton's post-injury leg brace. Beck humorously recalled bloopers, including accidental kicks and the car horn going off, acknowledging the inherent comedic potential of the situation.
A pivotal and challenging scene involved a big fight between Drayton and Dallas, triggered by Drayton missing Dallas’s show, where he even implies his injury might have been avoided without her. Beck recounted the difficulty of shooting such an emotional scene, likening it to the first film’s breakup, emphasizing the collaborative effort with Siena Agudong and director Justin Wu to balance blame with the understanding that their circumstances, not a lack of love, were pulling them apart.
The film concludes on a bittersweet note, leaving audiences yearning for a resolution to Drayton and Dallas's story. Noah Beck is openly enthusiastic about the possibility of a 'Sidelined 3', believing the story cannot be complete until the couple finds a way to be together. He stated he would be honored to return if fans desire a third installment, asserting that the ending of the second film is designed to leave viewers wanting more.
Beck, a fan of inspirational sports movies like 'Miracle', 'Remember the Titans', and 'Rudy', found particular satisfaction in delivering a locker room speech within the film. He cherished the opportunity to embody the role of a Division 1 starting quarterback, leveraging his own college athlete experience to authentically portray the camaraderie and intensity of college sports, which became a more prominent theme in the sequel compared to the first film's focus on the relationship.
