Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, National Chairman Dr. Agbo Major said the party had already begun uploading candidates after receiving access to the INEC Candidates Nomination Portal, but warned that delays arising from the party's prolonged leadership crisis had left it racing against time.

"We are running against time. We have asked INEC to adjust its schedule in the interest of fairness so we can catch up and present credible candidates," Major said.

He explained that the delay stemmed largely from the time it took for INEC to implement court judgments that resolved the party's leadership dispute. According to Major, the recognition of the party's authentic leadership has now cleared the way for the NNPP to fully participate in the electoral process.

The NNPP chairman also announced that the party had restored its 2022 Constitution and manifesto, describing the move as part of efforts to return to its founding principles.

He disclosed that an expanded National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting would be convened in the coming weeks to ratify key decisions on the party's future direction.

Major expressed appreciation to the party's founder and Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, members at home and in the diaspora, and the judiciary for their support throughout the leadership dispute, which lasted more than three years.

In a significant development, INEC has since extended the deadline for submitting presidential and National Assembly candidates from July 11 to midnight on July 14, following appeals from the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties.

Major concluded by urging Nigerians to support the NNPP, describing it as a united and disciplined political party ready to provide credible leadership and governance as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
