NFL Expands Global Reach: 2026 International Player Pathway Class Announced

The National Football League has unveiled its International Player Pathway (IPP) Class of 2026, reinforcing its commitment to scouting and developing elite global talent. This year’s cohort comprises 13 standout athletes from 10 countries, each poised to showcase their potential and compete at the professional level. The program offers a structured environment combining on-field drills, classroom instruction, and direct exposure to NFL scouts.

The 2026 class highlights a truly diverse roster. From Oceania, Kaia Clarkin, Jarrod Gray, and Laekin Vakalahi represent Australia and New Zealand, with Kaylan Faumui bridging New Zealand and Samoa. Europe and Asia are represented by Felix Lepper and Michael Daramola from Germany, alongside Kansei Matsuzawa from Japan. Africa contributes strongly with Joshua Weru (Kenya) and a Nigerian contingent including Collins Arogunjo, Uar Bernard, Chibuike Madu, and Anjola Oketola. Seydou Traore represents Algeria, the Ivory Coast, and the United Kingdom, emphasizing the global reach of the initiative.

Patrick Long, the NFL Director of International Football Development, expressed excitement about the incoming talent. “We’re thrilled to welcome this new class to the 2026 IPP programme,” Long said, underscoring the program’s pivotal role in growing American football worldwide. “The IPP provides these elite athletes with a pathway to professional opportunities, many of whom have already achieved tremendous success in the NFL. We wish the Class of 2026 the best as they begin their journey.”

The 10-week intensive training program will commence in January 2026 at X3 Performance and Physical Therapy in Fort Myers, Florida. Athletes will engage in rigorous on-field drills, tactical instruction, and classroom sessions, ensuring a holistic approach to development. Upon completion, the players will participate in a showcase for NFL club scouts, creating opportunities for immediate professional entry or consideration in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Since its inception in 2017, the IPP has successfully integrated international players into NFL rosters. To date, 70 international athletes have signed with teams, with 22 currently active and 11 promoted to main rosters, including prominent names such as Jordan Mailata (Australia), Jakob Johnson (Germany), Efe Obada (UK), Sammis Reyes (Chile), Thomas Odukoya (Netherlands), David Bada (Germany), Charlie Smyth (Ireland), TJ Maguranyanga (Zimbabwe), Mapalo “Maz” Mwansa (UK/Zambia), CJ Okoye (Nigeria), and Haggai Ndubuisi (Nigeria). The program continues to elevate international talent, proving its significance in shaping the future of the league.
