Music Icon Barry Manilow Faces Health Scare, Cancels Vegas Residency!

Barry Manilow unexpectedly cut short his return to Las Vegas, walking offstage only two songs into a performance and subsequently canceling a pair of scheduled concerts. The 83-year-old artist had just celebrated a "triumphant welcome-back concert" on Thursday, October 8, at the International Theater within the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, following a weeks-long break. However, during Friday's show, Manilow stopped after only two songs, reportedly telling the audience to "Talk amongst yourselves" before not returning to the stage. Attendees reported that his band continued to play instrumentals before an announcement declared the show over, with refund emails from Ticketmaster later confirming the cancellation.

A representative for Manilow and the venue confirmed that he was battling bronchitis. "After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows," the representative told Variety. The illness forced the cancellation of Saturday's concert entirely, raising concerns given Manilow's past health challenges.

This bout of bronchitis holds particular significance for Manilow. In December 2025, he disclosed a diagnosis of early-stage lung cancer, which was discovered when doctors ordered scans during his recovery from a previous episode of bronchitis. He later underwent surgery for the condition. These health issues have repeatedly led to postponements of his Westgate residency, which was initially planned to commence in February. Despite these setbacks, he eventually returned to the stage in the U.K. and resumed his Vegas dates in July. After a demanding summer run, he announced another break in late August, citing that they had been "pushing a little too hard." As of now, his team has not confirmed whether upcoming residency dates, scheduled to continue on October 15, will be affected.

Manilow stands as one of the most successful recording artists globally, boasting over 85 million records sold worldwide. His illustrious career includes his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, “Mandy,” in 1975, followed by two more chart-toppers: “I Write the Songs” and “Looks Like We Made It.” He is also renowned for a string of adult-contemporary classics such as “Copacabana (At the Copa)” and “Can’t Smile Without You.” With more than a dozen top-40 Hot 100 hits to his name, Manilow continues to be a prominent figure on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, where his 2026 single “Once Before I Go” notably reached the top 10. His Westgate residency has solidified his status as one of Las Vegas’ most enduring headliners, with his total number of performances at the venue surpassing the long-standing record held by Elvis Presley.
