In a video shared on January 28, she acknowledged the widespread sense of helplessness while offering practical ways for her followers to assist local communities.

Calls to Support Local Initiatives

Lizzo highlighted a GoFundMe campaign for Jayla Ramirez, whose father was detained by ICE, seeking $20,000 for bail and $10,000 for legal fees.

She also drew attention to local businesses serving as critical mutual aid hubs, including Smitten Kitten, a Minneapolis sex shop, and Glam Doll Donuts, near the site where ICU nurse Alex Pretti was fatally shot by an ICE agent on January 24.

Lizzo clarified that her appeals were aimed at affluent individuals, celebrities, and influencers capable of contributing.

Reflecting on Minneapolis, Lizzo noted the city’s recurring pattern of injustice, citing Philando Castile, Jamar Clark, and George Floyd, but emphasized the community’s resilience.

She also mourned the loss of Los Angeles activist Shirley Raines, praising her charitable work and unwavering support for underserved communities.
