Legacy Continues: Football Royalty's Son Nets Stunning Screamer for Barcelona Youth

Shane Kluivert, the 18-year-old forward and son of Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, made headlines after scoring a spectacular goal for Barcelona’s Under-19s. This 'screamer' not only showcased his burgeoning talent but also inspired his team to a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory against his former club, PSG, in a tense UEFA Youth League clash at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
Kluivert, whose brother is Bournemouth winger Justin Kluivert, joined Barcelona’s youth side in 2017 after spending time in the PSG academy. Facing his old team, Barcelona found themselves trailing after Chtai Telamio put PSG ahead, and their challenge was compounded when Campos received a straight red card.
However, Shane Kluivert emerged as the catalyst for the Spanish side’s turnaround. In the 58th minute, he latched onto a precise pass, skillfully cut in from the left wing, and drove towards the goal. As space opened up, he unleashed a powerful 'howitzer' of a shot that sailed past the PSG goalkeeper, leveling the scores and igniting wild celebrations among his teammates. Soon after, 10-man Barcelona took the lead through Xavi Espart, securing an impressive comeback win.
The young Kluivert’s exceptional effort quickly garnered praise from fans, with comments like “Wow, incredible football,” “He’s from the same batch as Lamine Yamal,” and “A legend’s kid living up to the hype.” Some fans even called for his swift inclusion in the first team, reflecting the excitement surrounding his potential.
While Shane is certainly making his mark, he still has a considerable journey to match the illustrious careers of his father and brother. Patrick Kluivert enjoyed a storied career, scoring 122 goals for Barcelona, winning the 1999 LaLiga title, and achieving success with Ajax and PSV Eindhoven. Justin Kluivert, on the other hand, has netted 22 goals for Bournemouth following stints at clubs such as Roma and RB Leipzig, further highlighting the family's deep roots in professional football.
