KISS Icon Gene Simmons Hospitalized After Shocking Car Crash

Legendary KISS bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons was recently hospitalized following a car crash in Malibu, California, an incident first reported by NBC4 Los Angeles. His wife, Shannon Tweed, informed NBC4 that the rock icon was recovering at home. A representative for KISS further confirmed to Billboard on Wednesday, October 8, that Simmons was "already back to work," assuaging concerns about his condition.
Simmons himself addressed his fans through his X (formerly Twitter) account on the same day, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of "kind wishes." He assured his followers, "I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us [who are] horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well." This candid message underscored his good spirits and quick recovery.
The crash, which involved Simmons' Lincoln Navigator reportedly colliding with a parked car on Pacific Coast Highway, was reported to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department just before 1 p.m. PT. According to the L.A. Sheriff, Simmons informed deputies at the scene that he might have either fainted or passed out prior to the collision.
Despite this recent incident, Simmons and KISS are gearing up for their first collective performance since December 2023, when their "End of The Road Tour" concluded with a memorable two-night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The band had previously announced in March their plans to reunite for the "KISS Kruise: Landlocked in Vegas" event.
This eagerly anticipated three-day event is scheduled to take place from November 14-16 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Fans can look forward to a unique experience, including two makeup-free "KISS Unmasked" shows—one acoustic and one electric—along with various activities featuring Gene Simmons, founding frontman Paul Stanley, and guitarist/vocalist Tommy Thayer, who was part of the band from 2002-2023.
