Nigerian Army troops have successfully rescued an abducted victim and recovered N10 million in ransom money during an operation in Kano State's Falgore Forest. The mission, conducted by 3 Brigade under Operation MESA, resulted in the neutralization of two suspected kidnappers. The Nigerian Army, through troops of 3 Brigade operating under Operation MESA, successfully conducted an operation in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State, resulting in the rescue of an abducted victim and the recovery of N10 million ransom. This swift action followed the abduction of Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu on October 11, 2026, from Fanyabo village within the same Falgore Forest. Alhaji Aliyu was reportedly kidnapped around midnight while returning from Yandoka Market in Kaduna State.
Following the abduction, the kidnappers established contact with Alhaji Aliyu's family, residing in Yan Taburmi village, also located within Falgore Forest. They subsequently demanded a ransom for his safe release. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops, in a collaborative effort with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local hunters, strategically mounted an ambush.
The meticulously planned operation led to a direct engagement with the criminal syndicate. During the encounter, two suspected kidnappers were neutralized, while the remaining members of the group managed to evade capture, fleeing deeper into the Falgore Forest. Crucially, the operation resulted in the successful liberation of Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu from his captors.
A subsequent and thorough search of the operational area yielded a significant recovery: N10 million, which had reportedly been paid by the victim's family as ransom. This substantial sum was promptly returned to Alhaji Aliyu and his family. The success of the mission was highlighted in a statement issued on Saturday by Major Babatunde Zubairu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade.
Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, the Commander of 3 Brigade, lauded the troops for their exceptional alertness, unwavering professionalism, and commendable fighting spirit displayed throughout the operation. He further reiterated the brigade’s firm commitment to relentlessly pursuing criminal elements and proactively preventing any future security breaches within the area. General Jimoh also strongly urged members of the public to provide accurate and timely information to security agencies, emphasizing the critical role community cooperation plays in maintaining peace and security across Kano State.
