Jennifer Garner Thriller Shatters Expectations with Mind-Blowing Twist!

Apple TV’s stylish thriller, The Last Thing He Told Me, reaches its halfway point with the impactful fourth episode of Season 2, titled “Ghosts.” This pivotal episode sees Hannah (Jennifer Garner), Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), and Bailey (Angourie Rice) travel to Austin with the intent of confronting the looming threat over their family. However, their plans quickly unravel following a series of shocking revelations and events.
As U.S. Marshal Grady (Augusto Aguilera) unexpectedly goes quiet, Owen makes a disturbing discovery: the extensive case he and Grady had meticulously built against the syndicate led by the Campano family (John Noble, Luke Kirby, and Judy Greer) may not have been what he believed it to be. The episode delivers one of its most significant shocks with the revelation that Owen’s father-in-law and Bailey’s grandfather, Nicolas (David Morse), is alive, despite earlier reports of his death from a heart attack. Adding to the family’s turmoil, Grady is soon found dead, in what is clearly staged as a suicide, leaving Owen without his trusted ally in the fight against these forces. Simultaneously, Hannah and Bailey are forced to confront the harsh reality of how little truth they have been told by those they initially placed their trust in.
In an interview with Collider, Jennifer Garner expressed her character Hannah’s mounting frustration with the constantly shifting truths. She noted, “Somebody else was deciding when to dole out the truth and how much to tell us,” highlighting Hannah’s growing impatience with being kept in the dark. Garner elaborates on Hannah's refusal to let Owen dictate their next moves, stating that Hannah has come to terms with the inherent danger in her and Bailey’s lives. After five years of independently preparing for the inevitable, Hannah has taken significant control, asserting her readiness for threats. Owen’s attempt to re-assert control now is complicated by Hannah’s past struggles and her deep-seated feelings of anger, hurt, frustration, and rage, making his traditional approach no longer viable.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau reflected on Owen’s predicament, explaining that his character’s
