Heartbreaking: Pregnant Chloe Radford Rushed to Hospital After Terrifying Health Scare

Chloe Radford, known from 22 Kids and Counting, faced a harrowing experience during her second pregnancy, detailed in a recent episode of the show. While working intensively at the family’s pie shop and caring for her first child, Mila, Chloe admitted to feeling “knackered” and overwhelmed. Her parents, Noel and Sue, repeatedly urged her to slow down for her health, but she continued her demanding schedule.
A critical moment arose when Chloe started feeling unwell during a shift, prompting her father, Noel, to shut down the pie shop early. Although taken home, a few hours later, Chloe grew extremely concerned as she couldn't feel her baby moving, which was unusual for him. This alarming lack of movement led her to ring triage, and Noel swiftly rushed her to the hospital for an emergency scan, where she was in tears due to her anxiety.

Thankfully, the hospital staff were able to find a heartbeat, providing immense relief to Chloe and her boyfriend, Jacob Wallace. Chloe described the feeling of her hand shaking with fear and the profound relief upon hearing her baby’s healthy heartbeat. The couple welcomed their son, Bodhi Reign, on April 28, 2025.
Chloe later shared her “brutal” and “dangerous” labor story. Her contractions began early in the morning, and she soon discovered she was bleeding, prompting an immediate trip to the delivery suite. At the hospital, she faced conversations about a potential C-section, and a challenging experience with a cannula, where two veins blew before a successful insertion. Throughout her labor, Chloe experienced continuous bleeding, which was unexplained at the time. It was later determined that her waters had broken on their own, but the bleeding persisted, causing concern among the medical staff.

The contractions intensified rapidly, becoming “absolutely brutal” and occurring almost every minute. Despite requesting an epidural, Chloe progressed too quickly to receive one. Her labor, which began at 9:30 AM, concluded at 6:20 PM, with only nine minutes of pushing. A critical moment during delivery involved a position change, as the baby was not tolerating his initial position, necessitating a rapid delivery. Astonishingly, the placenta came out simultaneously with the baby, leading medical professionals to suspect that the placenta had started to detach, a condition described as “quite dangerous.”
Despite the frightening complications, Chloe was immensely grateful that Bodhi arrived perfectly healthy, weighing six pounds six ounces. Following the birth, Chloe and Jacob had skin-to-skin contact with their newborn, and Jacob cut the cord. They were required to stay in the hospital for 24 hours post-delivery to monitor Chloe’s blood pressure before finally returning home with their healthy son.
