‘Hazbin Hotel’ Season 2 Sparks Buzz: Fan-Quoted Scene & Musical Ambition Revealed!

Hazbin Hotel Season 2 is gearing up to be an explosive spectacle, promising a "bigger, louder, and more chaotic" experience for fans. The anticipation began building earlier this month with the debut of the season's opening number, "Hazbin Guarantee (Trust Us)." This high-energy track not only introduces the new character Baxter, voiced by Kevin Del Aguila, but also vividly showcases the widening ideological chasm between the Hazbin Hotel's residents and the formidable Vees. The song sets a clear tone for the season, hinting at Vox's impending "war path."
The musical momentum continued at New York Comic Con 2025, where a second powerful track, "Gravity," was revealed. This emotionally charged song features Lute, brought to life by Jessica Vosk, with haunting backing vocals from Alex Brightman's Adam, confirming his return despite his demise in Season 1. While "Hazbin Guarantee" draws the battle lines, "Gravity" delves into the profound, lingering repercussions of the war with Heaven, making it clear that the Vees are not the sole adversaries with a vendetta against the Hazbin Hotel. The clip also offered a quick glimpse of Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump's new character for the season, Abel.
Creator Vivienne "VivziPop" Medrano shared insights into the creative process behind these pivotal musical numbers. Emphasizing her strict quality control, Medrano stated, "The pressure comes from me, because I don't let a song through unless I like it." Regarding "Hazbin Guarantee," she explained the intricate balance required: "We have to introduce Baxter to the hotel, but we also need to show how these two forces are different." The innovative solution involved depicting Baxter's introduction through the song, starting at the hotel and then transitioning to the "machine of the Vees." Medrano praised this concept, noting its "genius" and calling it one of her favorite songs due to its layered complexity, involving an "opening bell" feel with multiple characters chiming in, Charlie's mental breakdown, Baxter's debut, and the villains' moment.
Baxter, while new to the screen, has a long history within Medrano's creative universe, having been a part of her earliest concept art. Medrano revealed, "For people who don't know, I've had these characters for a very long time, and I've done art of them." She confessed that for a while, she struggled to find a distinct role for Baxter, as he was, in a sense, "replaced by Sir Pentious" as the "nerdy, silly, goofball scientist character." However, finding a unique voice and personality for Baxter transformed him into a "fun blend to the gang," characterized by his "mean and blunt" yet entertaining scientific demeanor. This behind-the-scenes narrative is even playfully acknowledged within the show, with Medrano adding, "we joke about that in the episode... I think that's why I was like, ‘Yeah, we should joke about him being the replacement now,’ because he was technically the one replaced originally."
Beyond the Hotel's internal dynamics, Season 2 will also plunge deeper into the ambitions of the Vees. At New York Comic Con, cast and crew offered a full look at a scene teased in the trailer, where Vox, portrayed by Christian Borle, Velvette, played by Lilli Cooper, and Valentino, voiced by Joel Perez, convene to discuss Vox’s audacious plan for dominion over Heaven and Hell. The scene humorously highlighted Valentino's inattention, as he was engrossed in sketching Vox bound in Shibari rope, leading to his now-iconic line, "I know you won’t believe this, but I don’t understand." This moment underscored the characters' on-brand personalities and the evident mutual attraction between Valentino and Vox, a dynamic hinted at with their kiss in Season 1.
The voice actors further elaborated on their characters' individual motivations when imagining their ultimate fantasies of power. Lilli Cooper envisioned Velvette in a world where she could "dress everybody the way she wants to dress them," reflecting her desire for fabulous and fierce aesthetics. Joel Perez described Valentino's dream as elevating "the art form of adult film," aspiring to be a "Francis Ford Coppola" of the genre, though acknowledging his hubris would eventually reveal itself. Christian Borle succinctly captured Vox's primary antagonist ambition: to "be a god" and "use that power to punish anyone who ever hurt him." This blend of ambition, ego, and "absolute disaster energy" is precisely what makes the Vees so captivating to fans.
With "Hazbin Guarantee (Trust Us)" kicking off the season, Baxter stepping into the limelight, the poignant addition of "Gravity," and the Vees' grand schemes unfolding, Hazbin Hotel Season 2 is meticulously setting the stage for an epic collision of music, memory, and power. Fans can mark their calendars for October 29, when the season premieres exclusively on Prime Video.
