Glo Unveils Four New Products as It Launches “Never Settle For Less” Campaign

If your network has ever finished your data at the exact moment you needed it most, you already understand why telecom companies keep promising better value.

Globacom is joining that conversation with a new campaign called “Never Settle For Less,” and this time, it is attaching the slogan to four products and upgrades it says will improve the customer experience.

The campaign was unveiled on Wednesday at Glo’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, as the company marked 23 years in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.

There were the usual speeches about ambition, technology and the importance of expecting better. But underneath the campaign messaging is a more practical question for anyone holding a Glo SIM: what exactly has changed?

Quite a bit, according to the company.

What Exactly Is Glo Offering Customers?

The first change is to Glo Talkmasta “6 for 6.”

The offer previously gave subscribers six free call minutes and 50MB of data after they used six minutes for calls. Glo has now increased the data benefit to 100MB, while keeping the six free call minutes.

The company has also changed what new customers receive when they activate a Glo SIM.

Under the enhanced Welcome Bonus Offer, new subscribers will receive benefits valued by Glo at ₦2,100. This includes 20 minutes of calls to all networks, 2GB of free data and a one-month GloTV Premium subscription.

Then there is Magic Data Bundle, a new offering built around the familiar idea of getting bonus data with a purchase.

The difference here is that every qualifying Magic Data purchase comes with a guaranteed amount of data, along with an additional allocation of Magic Bonus Data.

The bonus depends on the particular bundle purchased. Glo says customers can receive between 500MB and 12GB in bonus data.

The bundles are currently available at ₦1,600 and ₦3,500, and customers can purchase them through the Glo Café app or by dialling *312#.

The fourth offering is not a new tariff at all. It is an upgrade to the Glo Café app.

What Does The New Glo Café app Actually Do?

The redesigned Glo Café app comes with a new interface, additional payment options and what Globacom describes as enhanced security.

Its biggest addition is Gloria, an AI-powered voice and text assistant designed to help customers find information, resolve enquiries and discover available offers within the app.

There is also a detail that makes Gloria particularly relevant to the Nigerian market.

The assistant supports English, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa, alongside French and Spanish. That means a Glo customer can interact with the assistant in one of four major Nigerian languages rather than relying entirely on English when seeking help.

The company says this makes Gloria the first multilingual AI customer service assistant introduced by a Nigerian telecommunications company.

The app also comes with several promotional offers. First-time registrants can receive 100GB of free data, while customers can get a 100% bonus on recharges and access special data offers, including 10GB for ₦2,500.

Glo also says customers will receive an additional 10% data on eligible bundle purchases.

Whether these offers prove useful will ultimately depend on the conditions attached to them and how customers experience them in practice. Telecom promotions can sound straightforward at launch and become considerably more complicated once customers start trying to use them.

That is why the app may be one of the more important parts of this campaign.

If Gloria works as Glo describes it, customers will not have to navigate through multiple menus or wait for conventional customer service every time they need information about a plan or offer.

Why Is Glo Talking About Ambition At a Telecom Launch?

The campaign is not only about tariffs and data.

Globacom has built “Never Settle For Less” around the broader idea of encouraging Nigerians to pursue their ambitions and demand better experiences.

To make that message more tangible, the company invited people whose careers reflect the theme to share their experiences at the launch.

Fashion entrepreneur Mai Atafo spoke about leaving a successful corporate career to pursue fashion. The decision eventually led him to build a career as one of Africa’s recognised fashion designers.

Columnist and television anchor Dr Reuben Abati also spoke about challenging himself to continue progressing in his career rather than becoming comfortable with what he had already achieved.

Their stories gave the campaign a human angle, but there is still a fairly obvious tension at the centre of Glo’s message.

Telecom customers are not necessarily looking for inspiration from their network provider. They want the service they paid for to work, and when a company promises additional value, they want to know exactly what that value means.

Glo operates in a market where customers can easily move between networks depending on pricing, coverage, data offers and service quality. Campaigns may get attention, but retaining customers requires the offers to deliver beyond the launch event.

For now, Globacom is betting that the upgraded Talkmasta offer, new customer bonuses, Magic Data and an AI-powered Glo Café app can give its latest campaign some substance.

“Never Settle For Less” is the message, but will Glo’s customers feel that they are getting more than they were getting before?
