Chowdeck Secures Insurance Cover for 20000 Riders Through MyCoverGenius

Chowdeck has partnered with MyCoverGenius to provide personal accident insurance coverage for more than 20,000 riders across Nigeria.
The partnership which took effect in November 2025 automatically enrols every active Chowdeck rider into a personal accident insurance plan powered by MyCoverGenius.
All active Chowdeck riders are automatically covered by insurance through MyCoverGenius, providing support for accident-related medical expenses, temporary disabilities, and other financial risks.
The plan is integrated into Chowdeck’s system, giving riders a safety net as they navigate Nigeria’s fast-growing but hazardous delivery market.
For many gig workers, an accident can abruptly halt their earnings, a problem Chowdeck aims to mitigate through this comprehensive insurance scheme, addressing a long-standing vulnerability within the gig economy.
Umar Nasir, Chowdeck’s Head of Operations, highlighted the company’s commitment to its riders, saying the decision aims to protect them from financial setbacks caused by accidents and ensure their peace of mind.
Nasir stated,
“Riders are a critical part of everything we do at Chowdeck. We want every Chowdeck rider to feel secure knowing that their well-being is just as important as the meals and packages they deliver every day.”
Since its launch in October 2021, Chowdeck has grown into one of Nigeria’s most popular delivery platforms, serving millions of users and supporting many businesses through its rider network.
The company recently surpassed 2 million users, just a year after reaching 1 million.
CEO Adebowale Banjo of MyCoverGenius sees the partnership as proof that insurance can be integrated into everyday online platforms, providing essential coverage to workers who might not otherwise have it.
This move could impact the gig economy, pushing delivery and ride-hailing companies to offer better benefits.
For riders, it adds stability to a traditionally unpredictable job, with personal accident insurance providing a long-needed safety net.
The partnership protects workers and sets a new standard for welfare in Nigeria’s gig sector.
