Geordie Greep's Tour Halted Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Geordie Greep, former frontman of Black Midi, publicly addressed sexual misconduct allegations made against him during his concert in Vancouver on Thursday, October 8. The accusations emerged after an individual distributed flyers to concertgoers outside the Pearl venue, explicitly accusing Greep of sexual assault. The flyers stated, “Geordie Greep A Rapist. You know what you did this morning Oct 8th. He thinks he can do what he wants. Let Him Know What Vancouver Thinks of Rapists.”

Greep took the stage approximately an hour later than scheduled, performing without his backing band. He directly confronted the flyers and the allegations during his performance. He explained to the audience, “Essentially what happened last night, me and some of the band we went out to some bars, we went around, we met people, and it ended up in a situation where really late at a house party, I got the wrong end of the stick with someone who was there, and I made a move, and it didn’t come off.” Greep emphasized that he quickly apologized for what he described as a “complete misunderstanding” on his part, expressing deep regret and upset over the situation. He categorically denied the rape accusation, stating, “I would never rape a woman. I’m not a rapist. It’s not how that went down.”

Greep further clarified his decision to perform the Vancouver concert solo, indicating he “didn’t want to force them to still play a show in the light of that happening.” He also announced that the proceeds from the Vancouver show would be donated to an anti-violence organization located in British Columbia. Greep acknowledged the potential discomfort among attendees, stating, “We were unsure what the response would be to all this, and I can only tell you that it’s okay if people want refunds, if they want to leave, it’s fine.” He concluded by stressing his desire for transparency, reiterating, “I just wanted to be transparent with you about what happened. I’m very, very, very sorry. I made someone uncomfortable without meaning to. It’s not a good thing, it’s not good.”

In the aftermath of these allegations, Billboard reached out to Greep’s representatives for comment. Subsequently, Greep canceled several dates on his ongoing North American tour, including shows scheduled for Boise, Idaho (October 9), Salt Lake City, Utah (October 10), and upcoming concerts in Boulder and Denver, Colorado. At the time of press, the final two dates of his North American tour, in Des Moines, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska, had not been canceled. Greep is still scheduled to commence a European tour on November 1 in the Netherlands, followed by performances in France, Spain, and Portugal.
