Generational Shift: Young Adults Dominate ChatGPT Usage in India

OpenAI has demonstrated a significant product-market fit among young Indians, with users aged between 18 and 24 accounting for nearly 50% of messages sent to ChatGPT in the country. This trend aligns with observations from Anthropic, which reported that 45.2% of Claude’s tasks in India are software-related.
Beyond professional applications, Indian users engage with ChatGPT for various other purposes: 35% of messages seek guidance, 20% involve questions about general information, and another 20% are requests for assistance with writing or content production.

These initiatives include offering a competitive sub-$5 subscription tier in the country and launching promotional campaigns to stimulate uptake.
