Gaming Giant Ubisoft Faces Union Strike Over Restructuring Plans

Ubisoft, the French video game publisher, is currently facing intensified struggles, prompting a significant industrial action. Five influential unions in France have collectively issued a call for a three-day strike, urging employees to cease all work duties.
The unions involved in this coordinated effort are the video game worker unions STJV and Solidaires Informatique, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the management union French Confederation of Management – General Confederation of Executives (CFE-CGC), and Printemps Ecologique, a trade union federation dedicated to environmental issues.
These unions are encouraging Ubisoft employees around the world to participate in the strike, which is scheduled to take place from February 10 through February 12. The primary catalyst for this widespread call to action is the beleaguered company’s latest strategic plans.
These plans include the closure of several studios, the implementation of substantial worker layoffs, and a new directive enforcing a full five-days-a-week return to the office for all employees.
The strike aims to protest these decisions, reflecting significant employee dissatisfaction with the company's recent operational and human resources policies.
