Fubara Loyalist Ewor Joins Wike's Camp, Rocking Rivers PDP

A significant political shift has occurred within the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Dr. Nname Ewor, formerly the factional chairman loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, officially collapsed his faction. Ewor announced the dissolution of his group, merging it into the Aaron Chukwemeka-led committee, which is supported by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. This announcement was made during Wike’s “Thank you” visit to the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (ONELGA) local government area of Rivers State.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ewor declared, “Today, I am handing over the chairmanship and leadership of my faction to the Aaron Chukwemeka-led caretaker committee. PDP is no longer factionalised in Rivers. PDP is under one chairman, and under one leadership, that is the leadership of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.” This statement signifies a move towards political consolidation under Wike’s leadership in the state.
Explaining his decision to leave the Fubara camp, Ewor stated that the governor could not be trusted. He accused Governor Fubara of failing to uphold the terms of peace agreements that had been mediated twice by President Bola Tinubu to resolve the lingering political crisis in Rivers State. Ewor emphasized his distrust, asserting, “If the president mediated twice, that means you cannot be trusted. Can such a leader be trusted? We can’t trust him.”
Furthermore, Dr. Ewor refuted claims made by Governor Fubara that Minister Wike was intimidating and frustrating his leadership. Ewor stressed that the minister had not engaged in any actions to undermine the governor’s office or the state government, contradicting the narrative put forth by Fubara.
Earlier in the event, the chairman of ONELGA, Mr. Chukwu Ogbogu, extended gratitude to Minister Wike for his visit and continued engagement with the people. Ogbogu also acknowledged Wike’s significant development interventions in the local government during his tenure as governor of the state, recalling infrastructural support and opportunities for local appointees.
Adding to the commendations, Mrs. Nkemjika Ezekwe, representing ONELGA II State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, praised Wike as a “women empowerment advocate,” highlighting his role in amplifying the voices of Rivers women and fostering financial independence. Similarly, Felix Obuah, coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council and an ONELGA native, described Wike as a “divine project,” expressing profound gratitude for his leadership and efforts in building bridges across Rivers State.
In response, Minister Wike thanked the people of ONELGA for their unwavering loyalty and solidarity. He emphatically declared the area a “no-go zone” for anyone outside his political family, underscoring the strong support he commands in the region. Wike also clarified that the political discourse in Rivers was not solely about party politics but centered on supporting the “Renewed Hope Family for Tinubu,” indicating a broader allegiance.
