Festival Frenzy: Reading & Leeds Fans Uncover 'Massive' Secret Sets Amid Lineup Clues

Fans attending the Reading and Leeds Festival in 2025 are abuzz with speculation over potential secret sets, a common occurrence at the twin festivals. With a lineup already featuring major acts like Travis Scott, Bring Me the Horizon, Hozier, and Chappell Roan for her exclusive UK headline festival appearance, eagle-eyed gig-goers are convinced several additional rock and electronic bands will make surprise appearances across both sites.
Among the most discussed possibilities are British rock band Wolf Alice and Australian electronic rock band Pendulum. Reddit users have pointed to a 'logical' connection for Wolf Alice, whose fourth studio album, 'The Clearing,' is due for release on Friday, August 22nd. Similarly, fans believe Pendulum could perform as their newest album, 'Inertia,' is also set to drop on the same day, with the band currently on tour. These release dates, coinciding with the festival, fuel the theories among the community.
Further fueling the secret set rumors, many fans are convinced that the Foo Fighters could be planning a surprise appearance. Speculation began after followers noticed gaps in the festival lineup poster, which appeared sparser than in previous years. This theory gained significant traction when the band posted a throwback video on Instagram of their 2019 Reading Festival performance, prompting many to wonder if this was a hint for a secret set at either Reading, Leeds, or both. The Foo Fighters have a rich history with the festival, having played multiple times since 1995 and headlining in 2002, 2005, 2012, and 2019, adding weight to the possibility despite some fan skepticism.
Adding to the list of potential surprise acts, revellers are also strongly suggesting that Chase & Status will take to the stage. This belief stems from a 'give away' clue spotted on the festival's official Instagram account, which featured a silhouette of two people with question marks. Fans quickly identified the silhouette as resembling the duo, with discussions on Reddit indicating a 'special something' might be happening at 19:30 on the Aux Stage at Reading.
However, not all news from the festival front is about surprise additions. American rockers House of Protection unfortunately confirmed they would no longer be performing due to unforeseen financial issues. The band stated on Instagram that most of their funding for the trip was contingent on their performance at the Heavy Music Awards, which was cancelled due to health issues affecting a key team member. Despite this setback, the band expressed deep regret to their fans and assured them they are looking forward to making it up to them, with plans to return to the UK in October for a tour with Architects.
With a mix of confirmed headliners and a flurry of speculation surrounding secret performances from popular bands like Wolf Alice, Pendulum, Foo Fighters, and Chase & Status, the Reading and Leeds Festival 2025 promises to be an event filled with both anticipated acts and exciting potential surprises, even as some bands face unfortunate withdrawals.
