A fatal incident occurred in West Lancashire on Saturday, August 29, when a train collided with a van at a level crossing in Burscough. British Transport Police (BTP) received reports of the collision at 3:18 PM. Emergency services, including paramedics and the fire service, swiftly responded to the scene.

According to BTP, one person was inside the van at the time of the collision. Tragically, a man was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to the fatality, two passengers who were on the train sustained minor injuries and received treatment.

Images shared online depicted a Northern train stopped adjacent to green fields, with multiple ambulances and a fire engine visible in the Burscough area. The British Transport Police have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious. However, enquiries are ongoing to fully establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
