Fatal Flight: Ministers Among Eight Dead in Ghana Helicopter Disaster

A tragic helicopter crash occurred in Ghana's southern Ashanti region on Wednesday, claiming the lives of eight individuals, including two prominent government ministers. Among the deceased were Ghana’s Defence Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. This devastating incident led to a national declaration of mourning.
Details of the fatal crash were provided by Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff to the Ghanaian President. Besides the two ministers, others killed in the ill-fated flight included the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; Vice Chairman of the NDC, Dr Samuel Sarpong;former Parliamentary candidate, Mr Samuel Aboagye; Squadron Leader Peter; Flying Officer Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo. The helicopter was on a journey from the capital city of Accra to Obuasi, a significant mining town located in southern Ghana.
In response to the tragedy, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah announced a period of national mourning. During this time, flags across the nation will fly at half-mast until further notice, signifying the country's collective grief and respect for those lost in the incident.
