Devil Wears Prada 2 Shocker: Hathaway Demands Inclusion, Sweeney's Cameo Cut!

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is set to premiere in theaters on May 1, promising a blend of familiar faces and some unexpected absences, while also emphasizing a commitment to greater diversity and inclusion.
The team behind “The Devil Wears Prada 2” reportedly made a “creative decision” to cut Sydney Sweeney’s cameo from the final version of the film.
The sequel, which recently held its premiere in New York, is packed with cameos from prominent figures in the fashion and entertainment industries.
Among the notable cameos are Lady Gaga, who not only makes an appearance but also contributed to the film’s soundtrack with the Doechii-assisted track “Runway.”
Donatella Versace filmed a scene in Milan, showcasing her involvement after stepping down as creative director of her family’s brand.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell is also featured, notably seated alongside Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, at the Dolce & Gabbana spring 2026 show, which was shot live during Milan Fashion Week.
However, not all filmed appearances made it to the final cut. Sydney Sweeney’s cameo, where she played herself being dressed by Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton (now leading Dior’s U.S. operations), was removed due to structural issues, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
Similarly, Conrad Ricamora, cast as Andy’s roommate, was cut after test screenings revealed audiences questioned the necessity of the character.
The film instead focuses on Andy spending time at Tracie Thoms’ character’s place, a dynamic deemed more realistic to the 2006 original.
A rumored cameo by Oscar winner Jessica Chastain proved false, as she never filmed for the movie.
Anna Wintour, the Condé Nast global content chief, made a “gag take” on the Milan set that will be featured as a bonus on streaming, though director David Frankel noted her early cue led to a partially out-of-focus shot.
More significantly, Wintour intervened behind the camera, observing a scene in the fictional Dior offices and advising the crew to swap the wardrobe styling to better reflect how a real luxury fashion house like Dior would present its employees, favoring more polished, understated pieces over trend-heavy looks to maintain authenticity.
