Deadly Gas Tanker Explosion Rocks Ibadan, Three Feared Dead

A tragic incident unfolded in the Idi-Iroko, Amuloko area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, resulting in the loss of three lives. The catastrophe occurred when a tanker, laden with 15 tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), exploded while in the process of transferring its contents into a gas skid tank. This devastating blast also caused significant structural damage, impacting two shops and a residential building nearby.
The incident was officially confirmed by Mr. Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, in a statement released to newsmen on Saturday. Mr. Akinwande detailed that the agency received a distress call about the explosion at precisely 7:40 p.m. on Friday, originating from a Pastor Oyebamiji. Following the alert, the agency's personnel were immediately deployed to the scene of the disaster.
Upon their arrival, fire service teams discovered the gas tanker, identified by its registration number LSR268YC, had indeed exploded. Mr. Akinwande reiterated the severe consequences of the explosion, confirming the destruction of property and the three fatalities.
