DC Hero Heads West: ‘Batman’ Star Joins ‘Yellowstone’ Spin-Off ‘The Madison’

Paramount+ is expanding its scripted slate with The Madison, a new drama series from prolific creator Taylor Sheridan, marking an unexpected turn for actor Will Arnett. Best known for voicing Lego Batman and for a long list of comedic roles, Arnett will take on a dramatic turn as Phil Yorn, a New York City-based therapist, in what the showrunner has described as his most intimate project to date.
The six-episode series unfolds across two sharply contrasting settings: the sweeping landscapes of Montana’s Madison River Valley and the fast-paced intensity of Manhattan. At its core, The Madison follows the Clyburn family, a New York clan navigating grief, displacement, and reconnection after relocating to central Montana. The narrative places emphasis on character-driven storytelling rather than the ranch politics that defined earlier Yellowstone installments, signaling a tonal shift within Sheridan’s expanding television universe.
Leading the cast are Academy Award nominee Michelle Pfeiffer and Academy Award winner Kurt Russell. Arnett is joined by an ensemble that includes Patrick J. Adams (Suits), Beau Garrett (Firefly Lane), Elle Chapman (A Man Called Otto), Amiah Miller (War for the Planet of the Apes), Ben Schnetzer (3 Body Problem), Kevin Zegers (Power), Rebecca Spence (Lady in the Lake), Danielle Vasinova (1923), and Matthew Fox (Lost). The depth of casting reflects Paramount+’s continued investment in prestige drama and Sheridan’s growing influence across the platform.
Scheduled to premiere globally on Saturday, March 14, exclusively on Paramount+, The Madison is produced by Paramount Television Studios alongside 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions. Sheridan serves as an executive producer with longtime collaborators David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, and several others, including the series’ lead actors Pfeiffer and Russell, reinforcing the project’s high-profile pedigree.
The series arrives as Sheridan continues to dominate the modern television landscape. Additional projects in the pipeline include Dutton Ranch, a direct sequel to Yellowstone featuring the return of Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, and Marshals, which will see Luke Grimes reprise his role as Kayce Dutton for CBS. Established hits such as Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman are also set to return with new seasons later this year.
While the Sheridan-verse continues to expand, some chapters are closing. Mayor of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner, is expected to conclude with its fifth and final season, though a release date has not been confirmed. As the first major Sheridan project to debut on Paramount+ this year, The Madison represents a strategic and pivotal addition to a franchise ecosystem built on character, conflict, and distinctly American settings.
