Crypto Whale Michael Saylor Dives Deeper, Snapping Up 1,200+ Bitcoin Today!

Michael Saylor's bitcoin-focused firm, Strategy, has significantly ramped up its Bitcoin acquisitions, leveraging its Variable Rate Series A Preferred Stock (STRC) to finance these purchases. Data from STRC.live and market trackers indicate an estimated 1,200 BTC purchased today, March 11, 2026. This aggressive buying strategy follows a remarkable day on March 10, when STRC posted a record $409 million in daily trading volume, accompanied by 3% 30-day volatility and a one-month VWAP near $99.78, its highest sustained average since issuance. On that day, over 2,000 Bitcoin were accumulated, marking one of the largest single-day buying events for the instrument since its launch.
Strategy, recognized as the world’s largest public corporate holder of Bitcoin, has strategically amended its at-the-market program earlier this year. This amendment empowered multiple agents to sell STRC concurrently, substantially boosting liquidity and facilitating significant capital raises expressly earmarked for Bitcoin acquisition. This proactive approach underscores the firm's commitment to expanding its Bitcoin treasury.
The latest estimated purchase complements a substantial $1.28 billion acquisition of 17,994 BTC, which was announced in a recent SEC filing. This prior acquisition elevated Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings to approximately 738,731 BTC, representing roughly 3.5% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply. The funding for this significant purchase was a hybrid, combining common stock and STRC issuance, highlighting the firm's versatile multi-pronged funding strategy.
The operational mechanism of Strategy’s STRC is designed to bridge the gap between traditional income-oriented investors and Strategy’s Bitcoin-heavy balance sheet. While Strategy’s balance sheet inherently carries both long-term asymmetry and short-term volatility, the preferred stock offers predictable distributions. Its variable-rate structure is engineered to maintain demand near its $100 par value, paying a monthly dividend that yields approximately 11.5% annually. This effectively translates the economics of a Bitcoin treasury into a format that is readily accessible and appealing to fixed-income investors.
The observed combination of record liquidity and low volatility in STRC trading signals an evolving investor base, shifting towards income-focused capital. This shift contributes to stabilizing trading behavior and represents early indicators of a strong product-market fit. Such a financial instrument is meeting a structural market demand rather than relying solely on promotional efforts. For corporate leaders exploring Bitcoin treasury strategies, STRC presents an innovative method to integrate Bitcoin into broader capital structures, channeling capital from diverse investor classes towards a unified strategic reserve. This paradigm could potentially reshape how companies finance their operations and strategically deploy Bitcoin as a structural asset within their portfolios. As of the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading near $71,000, while Strategy’s common stock (MSTR) is down by half a percentage point for the day.
