Cole Palmer's Historic Treble: Chelsea Star Rewrites Record Books with Sensational Hat-Trick
)
Cole Palmer achieved a historic milestone for Chelsea on Saturday, scoring his fourth hat-trick for the club in their 3-1 victory over Wolves. This remarkable feat established a new club record, surpassing the tallies of Chelsea legends Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink, Didier Drogba, and Frank Lampard, who each managed three hat-tricks during their illustrious careers in west London. Tolu Arokodare scored a consolation goal for Wolves in the second half, but Palmer's dominant first-half performance proved decisive for Liam Rosenior's side.
Palmer's treble against Wolves was secured through two penalty conversions and a well-taken finish inside the box in the 38th minute. This hat-trick was not only instrumental in the win but also ranked as Chelsea's third fastest in Premier League history. Notably, Palmer already holds the record for Chelsea's fastest Premier League hat-trick (29 minutes vs. Everton) and the second fastest (31 minutes vs. Brighton), solidifying his reputation for rapid scoring. Furthermore, he became the first player in Premier League history to register three first-half hat-tricks, a testament to his immediate impact in matches.
Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, Palmer has quickly become a pivotal figure at Stamford Bridge, scoring 44 goals in 84 appearances. His latest goal-scoring spree also saw him overtake John Terry (41 goals) to claim second place for most goals scored by English players for Chelsea in the Premier League, with a total of 44 goals. He now trails only Frank Lampard, who holds the top spot with an impressive 147 goals.
Despite recent reports suggesting Palmer might be considering a return to Manchester due to homesickness, Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has downplayed these rumors. Following the win against Wolves, Rosenior lauded his star forward, describing the hat-trick hero as 'unstoppable' after a record-breaking afternoon. Rosenior emphasized Palmer's quality and his love for the club, stating, "When he's fully firing and feeling good he's [Palmer] a magnificent footballer." He added, "We know what a world-class player he is. He's played a lot of football over the last year with not much rest. When he's at his best, he's unstoppable. I'm delighted to be working with him." Rosenior also expressed his hope that Palmer would continue to enjoy his football for the remainder of the season, further quashing speculation about his future.
