Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby Returns in Epic 'Peaky Blinders' Movie Trailer

The highly anticipated film "Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man" is set to bring Cillian Murphy’s iconic character, Tommy Shelby, back into the tumultuous world of wartime chaos. The first trailer confirms Tommy's return from self-imposed exile, immediately facing a new, destructive reckoning amidst the backdrop of World War II.
A significant twist revealed in the trailer is the introduction of Barry Keoghan as Duke Shelby, Tommy’s renegade and illegitimate son, who has taken control of the Peaky Blinders gang. Set in Birmingham in 1940, the film plunges the Shelby empire once again into political and personal crossfire, with Duke running the gang in a manner reminiscent of its origins in 1919. This forces Tommy to confront his violent past and step up against his son.
The stakes are intensely high, involving not only the future of the Shelby family but also the fate of the country. Tim Roth portrays a British Nazi sympathizer who is actively plotting an event that could significantly shift the balance in Germany’s favor. Tommy must face his own demons, choose whether to confront his legacy, or risk burning it all to the ground.
The film is penned by series creator Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper, marking a significant reunion for the creative team behind the original acclaimed series. Knight has promised "an explosive chapter" with "no holds barred" storytelling, describing it as "full-on Peaky Blinders at war." Cillian Murphy expressed his gratification, stating, "It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans."
Alongside Cillian Murphy, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth, the cast features returning fan favorites Sophie Rundle as Ada Shelby, Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg, and Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong. Newcomers Rebecca Ferguson and Jay Lycurgo also join the ensemble, promising a rich and dynamic cast for this new chapter.
"Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man" is scheduled for release in select theaters on March 6, 2026, and will subsequently be available on Netflix on March 20, 2026. This cinematic event promises to deliver a darker, more explosive narrative that fans have eagerly awaited since the series finale in 2022.
Adding to the expanding universe, Netflix and BBC have greenlit a sequel series to "Peaky Blinders," picked up for two seasons, with Cillian Murphy serving as executive producer. This series is set after "The Immortal Man," focusing on post-WWII Birmingham as it rebuilds from heavy bombing. The logline suggests a brutal contest for ownership of Birmingham's massive reconstruction project, positioning the Shelby family once again at the heart of unprecedented opportunity and danger in a city of concrete and steel.
