Chart Royalty! Olivia Dean's 'Man I Need' Dominates Australian Airwaves, Makes History!

The latest ARIA Charts, published on Friday, March 20, reveal significant movements and milestones across both the Singles and Albums charts in Australia. Harry Styles continues his reign at No. 1 on the albums chart with "Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally" (Columbia/Sony), marking its second consecutive week atop the national tally. This sustained performance highlights Styles' enduring popularity in the Australian market.
Olivia Dean has achieved a remarkable feat on the Singles Chart with her signature song, "Man I Need" (Universal). The track has held the No. 1 position for an impressive 18 consecutive weeks, making it the second-longest reigning single since the official ARIA Charts commenced in 1983. This achievement breaks a previous tie with The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” and Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” both of which were stuck on 17 weeks at No. 1. While a significant milestone, "Man I Need" still trails Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey,” which holds the all-time crown with 24 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2019-20. Dean’s success extends beyond her chart-topping single, as she also secures a 1-2 punch with "Rein Me In," her collaboration with Sam Fender, maintaining its position at No. 2. Additionally, "So Easy (To Fall In Love)" climbed from No. 6 to No. 5, and "Nice To Each Other" ascended from No. 23 to No. 15. Her album, "The Art of Loving," remained strong at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
In a notable breakthrough, Tame Impala’s “Dracula” (Columbia/Sony) has finally entered the top 10 on the Singles Chart, rising from No. 15 to No. 8. This marks a new peak position and a career best for the Perth-based band, coming after 21 weeks on the chart and following a fresh mix featuring BLACKPINK’s JENNIE. Prior to this, Tame Impala’s highest position on the ARIA Chart was No. 17 for “The Less I Know The Better” back in 2015. Significantly, “Dracula” stands as the sole homegrown recording within the current ARIA Top 50, underscoring its unique impact. The only new release and top debut on the Singles Chart belongs to Noah Kahan, whose song “Porch Light” (Republic/Universal) switched on at No. 29.
Beyond the top positions, the ARIA Albums Chart also saw other notable entries and movements. Tate McRae’s "So Close to What" (RCA/Sony) moved up from No. 6 to No. 3. New releases impacting the frame include Lamb of God’s "Into Oblivion" at No. 16 (Century Media/Sony), Beccy Cole’s "Through The Haze" at No. 26 (ABC/Orchard), The Black Crowes’ "A Pound of Feathers" at No. 34 (STO/MGM), and James Blake’s "Trying Times" at No. 35 (Virgin/Inertia).
