Bucha Inferno: Russian Strike Claims 27 Lives in Devastating Warehouse Blaze

A devastating Russian drone strike overnight resulted in a major fire and explosions at a warehouse in the village of Myla, located in Kyiv Oblast. Local authorities reported that at least 27 people were killed, and 42 individuals, including four children, sustained injuries. Tymur Tkachenko, the head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, confirmed that 381 people were evacuated from the affected area.

According to Tkachenko's post on Telegram, the attack ignited a large-scale fire that subsequently spread to private residential buildings. Fires in five houses and a catering establishment were successfully extinguished. He further noted that the blaze was "accompanied by explosions," and emergency and rescue teams are currently working at the scene to manage the aftermath and provide assistance.

In response to the incident, Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into potential "negligence" concerning the storage conditions at the warehouse. The investigation will scrutinize "the legality of the placement and storage of explosive objects and materials on the territory of the enterprise, the availability of the necessary permits and approvals, as well as the actions of officials who made the relevant decisions." Social media footage captured a colossal explosion and fireball near the site, illuminating the night sky.

The attacks extended beyond Myla. On Saturday, a Russian drone strike in Kherson, southern Ukraine, claimed the life of one man, and a 44-year-old suffered a blast injury and shrapnel wounds. Additionally, two people were injured in an attack on Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district, as reported by local authorities.

Ukraine's air force detailed Russia's recent aerial assaults, stating that since 6 pm on Friday, Russia had launched one Onyx anti-ship missile, one Iskander ballistic missile, and a total of 267 drones at Ukraine. By Saturday morning, Ukrainian air defenses had successfully shot down or "neutralised" 233 of these drones.

Both Moscow and Kyiv have intensified long-range strikes in recent months, primarily targeting logistics and energy facilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on his forces to significantly increase their deep strikes on Russia, setting an ambitious target of 1,000 drone launches per day. In a video address on Friday evening, he emphasized, "Right now, we average over 300 of our long-range sanctions - there must be more."
